Fidya and Kaffarah must be given to the poor and needy. It cannot be used for mosque construction or other charitable works not directly involving feeding or clothing the poor.

Can I give Fidya to a relative?
You cannot give Fidya to those you are responsible for (parents, children, spouse). However, it can be given to other poor relatives who are in need.
When should I pay Fidya?
It is best to pay Fidya as soon as the fast is missed, or at the end of Ramadan. It can also be paid at the beginning of the month for the whole month if the illness is permanent.
What if I miss the 60-day fast?
For Kaffarah of a fast, if you break the 60-day consecutive fast (except for menstruation), you must start the 60 days again from the beginning.
Who qualifies for Fidya?
Those with terminal illness, extreme old age where fasting is impossible, or chronic conditions like severe diabetes that prevent fasting safely.
